Cellulite : Cellulite Removal Techniques

by Ray Lam

The usually unsightly condition known as cellulite is suffered by woman around the world and is universally hated; whilst some areas are more susceptible than others, most sufferers find they are affected in areas below the waist. Do not be fooled into thinking that this is a condition purely confined to women who are overweight because most carry additional fat anyway; the cottage cheese appearance so familiar with this condition can affect slim women as well.

There are various procedures used to remove of cellulite. Liposuction is a surgical procedure intended to remove fat deposits and shape the body. Fat is removed from under the skin with the use of a vacuum-suction canula (a hollow pen-like instrument) or using an ultrasonic probe that emulsifies (breaks up into small pieces) the fat and then removes it with suction. People with localized fat may decide to have liposuction to remove fat from just one specific area.

Liposuction is a procedure for shaping the body and is not recommended for weight loss. Liposuction may be performed on the abdomen, hips, thighs, calves, arms, buttocks, back, neck, or face. A liposuction procedure may include more than one site, for instance, the abdomen, back and thighs –all on the same day.

The latest cellulite removal technique which is gaining popularity these days is called Mesotherapy. This cellulite removal technique involves injecting cellulite affected body areas with a special serum that breaksdown the fat cells. The main ingredient of this serum is called phosphatidylcholine which is a natural occuring substance found in all living tissues. When cellulite affected body areas are injected, the fat cells become inflamed and disrupted and these cells are flushed out of our system.

Another non surgical procedure for cellulite removal is called Vela smooth which uses bi-polar radio frequency and infrared light to mobilize tissue and effectively re-contours the skin surface. Treatments usually take around 30-60 minutes to perform and are usually done twice weekly. The number of areas treated and size of each area determines the duration of this cellulite removal technique.
