Just Say No to Stress!
Looking back to the time when there was nothing else interesting and useful to do but to read books, it is amazing to know how people lived without the Internet and other high-tech gadgets. Things have changed so much since then. People’s lives are now much easier as it is now pretty easy to do things because of these gadgets and technolgy. We now have mobile phones, PDA, personal computers, laptops, flat screen TV and other technical stuff that we seem cannot live without. Because of these, thinking that everything can be done easily, we tend to over-commit and outdo ourselves.
Nowadays, we use gadgets and devices to make our lives easier. We use the internet to search for our next job and our next shopping purchase, use mobile phones to communicate with someone easily from abroad, watch TV for entertainment, and even use laptops and PDA’s to keep track of our daily schedules at work. All of these are a means to make every work easier, but because of the thinking that tasks are simpler because of the use of such technology, we tend to overwork ourselves. The accumulation of things owned such as these gadgets pre-occupy us, leaving us with so many things to tackle on a daily basis. And if we thought logging in to our Facebook accounts during our lunchbreak is a means to relax, well, how could we, if all we do is click our PC mouse to virtual farming and virtual mafia fighting? Isn’t it stressful too?
Having to say no to projects you think would be profitable at the same time difficult to do isn’t that much of a big waste. It might be that profitable but what if you don’t really have the time and skill to finish it? As a result, you would be pushed to your limit and end up taking adrenal supplements to battle stress.
You have to know where you stand, which project to turn down, and when to unwind and take a breather. If you overdo things, you end up disappointing a lot of people, even yourself. Because of the stress, jobs would turn up half baked.
Taking care of your health should be your number one priority. Don’t overdo things, don’t overwork. So that you can be even more productive.
